Our client contacted us regarding their house extension plans in Seacliff Park, which included a split-level slab using waffle pods. Having previously utilized waffle pods as an alternative to traditional steel mesh reinforcement, we were eager to offer the client a competitive price.
We secured the job and started the project. The client opted to prepare the site on his own, so we were ready to start upon arrival. We laid down a small quantity of sand from Resource Co Lonsdale and compacted it. Next, we commenced excavation for the external beams. Since we were utilizing waffle pods, there was no need to dig internal footings.
We proceeded to install plastic forticon and formwork, with heights varying from 380mm to 600mm at the tallest point. The installation of waffles commenced, which were obtained and provided by Foamex. To ensure a snug fit, we needed to cut and secure them properly. We subsequently reinforced them using steel provided by Biancos Reinforcing. A rebate was created for the brickwork to rest on.
We were ready to start the first stage of the concrete work. Despite the rainy weather not being in our favor, we successfully completed the task using concrete provided by Adbri. We initially poured the lower level of the split slab, which served as a foundation for installing formwork on the upper level.
We began our second and final pour with more favorable weather conditions. Everything proceeded smoothly. After removing the formwork, the results were impressive.
The client was pleased with the result, another great job done!
